This is the third consecutive year that the company has received this recognition, and the achievement reaffirms the company’s continuing commitment to employee engagement.
Aon’s Best Employers in Canada Study has been the country’s most comprehensive and widely recognized assessment of workplace excellence. Aon’s methodology reflects 20 years of learnings and best practices from Aon Best Employer and employee engagement studies conducted all over the world. Over the last five years alone, data was collected in more than 150 markets from over 5,000 organizations in 68 industries, including over 625,000 employees and more than 600 companies of all sizes in Canada.

Because the BSME program is centered on recognizing employee engagement, the company’s ranking was primarily determined from results obtained from Employee Opinion Surveys issued by the program. Additional inputs to the evaluation process included the assessment of organizational practices and perspectives from the leadership team.

Aon’s 2016 List of the Best Employers in Canada
To be designated a Best Employer using the global standard, each participant’s employee survey scores on engagement, leadership, performance culture, and employment brand were assessed against Aon Hewitt’s Canadian Survey Database. Organizations who scored in the top 25% of the Canadian database achieved the Platinum Level, while those scoring in the top third achieved Gold level.
This year’s Best Employers in Canada study identified 29 large organizations that achieved Platinum status; as well, 12 large organizations qualified for Gold Best Employer status. On average, 80 per cent of employees were engaged at Platinum Level Best Employers this year. At the Gold Level, 72 percent of employees were engaged. Among small and mid-sized companies (less than 400 employees), 28 qualified as Platinum Best Employers, while 11 achieved Gold status.
