In a city where there’s so much to do, sometimes it can be hard to keep on top of all the exciting cultural events. So WNYC has launched a text message campaign to send New Yorkers the precise time and location information for all the city’s major summer concert and performance series. Now New Yorkers can get precise logistical information about music, dance, theater, visual art, and film – straight to their mobile phones.

Text SUMMER to 30644, and you’ll be given the option to sign up for a variety of event updates. There’s the Celebrate Brooklyn festival in Brooklyn, the Summer Stage concert series, River to River, and a series of classical concerts from WQXR.

Whenever there’s an event approaching, you’ll get a text message alerting you to the time and place. For example, I signed up for WQXR classical alerts, and got the text today

Today’s WQXR concert: Met Summer Recital Series in the parks at Brooklyn Bridge Park, 7:00 pm

Or a recent Summer Stage alert wrote that:

Today’s Summer Stage: Kaleidoscope of Dance Featuring: Legendary House of Ninja and Dance Master Class by Full Circle at St. Mary’s Park, BK, 7:00 PM.

By sending precise event information, straight to your mobile phone, WNYC ensures that you have the relevant logistical information in a way that’s convenient for you.

All that’s left is to be dazzled by the array of brilliant performers throughout the city!
