Due to COVID, the team at Leighton Alexandria turned their annual Home and Garden Show into a virtual event. Participating businesses got a virtual booth with their own sweepstakes for lead-gen and database growth. Here’s another example of a great in-person event turned into a virtual advertiser showcase. Florida residents are no stranger to the threat of hurricanes. The Sun Coast Media Group’s advertiser showcase split local hurricane preparedness businesses into different groups such as Roofing, Insurance, and Electricians. Each of their sponsors was offered a chance to include a video of their services as well as run a sweepstakes with lead-generation potential.

The team in Onondaga used their holiday showcase to secure revenue they’d lost during the statewide shutdown, secure new business, and lock on one large overriding sponsor. Each day they gave away prizes in addition to everything the day before. The contest would end on Day 12 with a winner who’d receive a $2,500 shopping spree to a local jewelry store along with the prizes from the first 11 days. The contest brought in over 5,000 entries and $30,000 in revenue for the station!

With a community eager to find jobs, the paper decided to create a virtual job fair. They secured a title sponsor as well as supporting sponsors. Each sponsor was given a spot on the virtual job board. Here, they could link off to their hiring site and promote their openings and current positions. With local job fairs being limited, this was a great way to help connect job seekers with potential employers.
