The WJXT annual Oh Say Can You Sing singing contest is normally held live, but this year it was converted to a virtual audition through a video contest. Not only did they lock in a great sponsor, Papa Johns, but they also leveraged all of their core media assets to succeed. The contest was promoted on-air, through digital ads, and email, and the final contestants were interviewed live. The winning singer even gets to sing the national anthem at the WJXT ‘Red, White, and Boom” Fourth of July special.

Battle of the Bands

This was a great success for the team in Jacksonville. They secured a prize of a $15,000 studio production package from their sponsor. The campaign delivered over 2,000 votes and generated over 800 opt-ins for the magazine. This was a great way to support local artists.

Rockin’ Wars 2020

WCSX-FM | Detroit, MI

WCSX took The 2020 WCSX Rockin’ Wars competition in a new direction this year. This year’s competition has local musicians “battle it out” to be voted as the best local band by WCSX listeners with big prizes for first, second, and third place finishers. The contest drove in over 4,000 votes and 700+ opt-ins. All three winning bands will be highlighted and their contact info placed on the WCSX Rockin’ Wars web page located on WCSX.com to further help promote themselves.

My Kids Got Talent

If there’s one thing parents have a lot of, it’s videos of their kids. The Daily Journal’s video contest asked people to submit photos of their kids special talents. With categories for different age groups, this contest was a big win drawing in dozens of entries and thousands of votes. Local advertisers were happy to sign on as sponsors.

The events of 2020 left many people looking for ways to thank the healthcare workers in their community. The Austin American Statesman ran this great feel-good campaign asking for videos thanking nurses in their community.
