The Spartanburg Herald-Journal ran a vacation photo contest for a local cruise company. Quizzes are a unique way to find leads, like Hartford Courant’s ‘Choose Your Own Adventure’ personality quiz for Aer Lingus, an Irish airline. The quiz questions were great for learning about their audience (such as ‘How far would you travel for adventure?’) and the registration form included two opt-ins, one for the advertiser and one for the papers’ travel newsletter. The promotion allowed the sponsor to learn about their audience, boosted their brand awareness, and filled their database with prospects. This quiz generated $30,000 in sponsorship revenue for the paper!
